So I have written this short guide on how to assist people who want to find the best free hosting sites, without the hassle of all the searching involved. So if you want to find the best free hosting, you will first need to understand what types of free hosting there is.
Surprisingly there are several options for free hosting, the fact remains though that hosting companies or providers do not want you to know about these free resources because then they would lose lots of money. However the point is for us to spend the least amount of money possible on hosting our website.
So with that being said, some of the options you have on the table are as follows:
1.) Free hosting with ads
2.) Free hosting with ads when you purchase a domain
3.) Free social hosting, like Myspace or Facebook
4.) Free shared hosting
5.) A form of shared sub domain such as ” your website name or title at someone else’s domain”
Free hosting with ads, there are plenty of sites like this, one in particular is the website Lycos; which you can sign up for a free account and host your own website for free. There are many more like this one such as brave host, tripod, dot easy and freewebspace.net. A Google search will turn up many others as well, I just have listed the most popular or best free hosting sites.
Another way to get free web hosting is by purchasing a domain name, a lot of hosting companies don’t tell you this but when you purchase a domain you automatically get free ad hosting. Which means it’s the same as the paid hosting packages; it just has advertisement banners on them.
You can easily hide the banner if you are really knowledgeable at CSS, or you can just Google the term hiding ads on go daddy free hosted sites. I think go daddy is the best free hosting there is, because you can easily cover the ads and so therefore there’s really no difference between the paid and non paid.
If you don’t know what MySpace or face book is than you have probably been living under a rock for the last decade. Just a brief recap in case you are unaware of the two major website communities. MySpace allows you to easily create and customize your own web space, whereas face book lets you create a wall. MySpace is for the more creative type where face book is geared toward the less technically savvy, in other words face book requires no html knowledge to update your page.
As far as social hosting goes I think my space is the best. MySpace, just has more options and you can customize the look and feel just like a real website whereas face book is just face book. I think the only reason why more people use face book is because they are non technical, but if they were technical they would be using MySpace instead.
Free shared hosting is with sites like Yola, in my opinion I think Yola is the best free hosting there is in regards to shared hosting. You can sign up for a free account by visiting Yola.com
Sub domains and hosting for free on others sub domains is probably the most popular way to get the best free web hosting, Sub domains are those that you create with a domain name that you already own. If you have a hosting provider like host gator you can create an unlimited amount of sub domains for free, you can also host as many domains as you want absolutely free.
I use Hostgator and have been using them for many years, they are the absolute best hosting out there. I am a professional web designer and developer and I have been hosting websites for over 10 years, so I know a good host when I see one.

I chose host gator as the best free hosting overall, because with the baby plan you can host millions of domains, with virtually no restrictions, in fact everything is pretty much unlimited. You only have to pay seven dollars and ninety five cents a month, you can recoup that money by reselling or giving away your own sub domains in an effort to drive traffic to your site. The possibilities are limitless.
It’s the only hosting company I know of where you can host unlimited domains, get unlimited bandwidth and disk space for less than a mc Donald’s happy meal.
